Thanks for visiting BennettEcon.com, the personal website of Daniel L. Bennett. I am entering the 4th year of the Economics Ph.D. program at Florida State University and am on the economics job market this year. Within these pages, you can find additional information about my research and teaching interests.
My primary field of interest is economic development. I am particularly interested in how economic, legal and political institutions impact economic growth and development. My job market paper, Colonizer Identity, Settlement Conditions and European Mercantilism: A Unified Institutional View of Comparative Economic Development examines how European colonization influenced the development of a broad cluster of institutions that impact long-term economic development.
The lovely lady in the picture above, taken at Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong, is my wife Haley, who has been incredibly supportive of my academic endeavors.
